The first tissue paper was manufactured by Kimberly-Clark Corporation in U.S.A. known as Kleenex
In 1964
Kleenex pocket tissue packs were introduced by Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
Around 1970
Pocket tissues used for advertising in their current style were introduced by Meisei Sansho Company in Japan.
There are no accurate statistics for production, however according to the industry about 4 billion tissue packs are distributed per year in Japan. That is about 20 packages for every one person in Japan per year. Ppocket tissue advertising has become a popular advertising and promotional medium in Japan.
Utilizing pocket tissues to deliver a message or simply to reinforce an identity is fast becoming a global trend. Originating in Japan then spilling over to the rest of Asia, and now more recently Europe, North America and beyond.
